Native Speaking Spanish Interpreter in Houston

All interpreters who represent Prime Instruction & Language are native speakers. They’re deeply fluent in both Spanish and English vocabularies and expressions. This ensures they convey meaning-for-meaning interpretations in all settings. A common expression in one language won’t necessarily have a word-for-word translation in the other language.

However, although a direct translation may not exist, an equivalent expression in the other language almost always does exist. For example, if you doubt that something someone said is true, you might say “you’re pulling my leg.” “You’ve got to be kidding me” is another way of expressing it. Obviously, it’s just an expression. No one is literally pulling anyone’s leg.

If you translate the “pulling my leg” expression with a literal translation, however, you might get some funny looks. That is simply not the right combination of words to convey that expression. “You’re pulling my hair,” on the other hand, is the right thing to say; Me estás tomando el pelo. Also, in Mexico, “¡No manches!” is another common exclamation for that situation.

The only way to know these expressions is to spend several years living in cultures where these languages are spoken. This is one of the key qualifications we require of our interpreters. The translations from one language to the other must be accurate, seamless and quick. For our native-speaking interpreters, this is second nature. (tag: spanish interpreter houston)
